Nakshi Kantha or Embroidered Quilt
Nakshi kantha is a centuries-old Bengali art of embroidered quilts that originated in the Bengal region.
The word "nakshi" comes from the Bengali word naksha, which means artistic patterns. The art involves using thread and old cloth to create elaborate patterns.
The art can be traced back 500 years, when Bengalis would recycle old textiles into quilts to keep warm.
The term "nakshi kantha" became popular after the publication of Jasimuddin's poem Naksi Kanthar Math in 1929.
