Exclusive Pattachitra - Prem Leela Under the Kadamba Tree
Folktales behind the inspiration: This artwork captures a certain act of “শ্রী কৃষ্ণের লীলাবিলাস” “Prem Leela Under the Kadamba Tree”
The Kadamba tree holds deep significance in Hindu mythology, especially in the tales of Lord Krishna and his divine love (prem leela) with Radha and the gopis. Its fragrant blossoms and dense, cooling shade created an ideal setting for their romantic exchanges, symbolizing the purity and joy of their eternal bond. Often depicted in Hindu art, the image of Radha and Krishna beneath a Kadamba tree reflects the essence of divine love and the natural beauty of Vrindavan.
The paintings mainly use red and blue pigments and are created on coarse cotton cloth.
