Nakshi kantha, a type of embroidered quilt, is a centuries-old Bengali art tradition of the Bengal region, notable in Bangladesh and Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura and part of Assam. The basic material used is thread and old cloth. Nakshi kanthas are made throughout Bangladesh, but the greater Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Bogra, Rajshahi, Faridpur and Jessore, Chittagong areas are most famous for this craft.

This Kantha depicts a story of a husband-wife doing their daily chores - the husband is out with his fellow fishermen and the wife is waiting on the husband to return while making an embroidery work. This is a common story of the people of Bangladesh, where a lot of family's livelihood depends on agriculture and fishery.

This Kantha was made in Bangladesh. Creation of Nakshi Kantha is very delicate and time consuming process. This particular piece took the artist almost 500 hours to finish.
