Pattachitra - Scroll Painting of Seven Brothers Champa
Folktales behind the inspiration: In a kingdom, a king had six queens but no children. A dream revealed that his seventh wife would bear a child. He married again, and soon, the new queen became pregnant. Out of jealousy, the six queens stole and buried her seven newborn sons, claiming the new queen gave birth to frogs. However, the new queen gave birth to a daughter named Parul. As she grew up, she discovered her seven brothers had turned into Champa flowers in the palace garden. One day, in the king’s presence, Parul restored her brothers to human form and exposed the six queens' betrayal.
